The power of words!
MY is a big one!
MY denotes ownership.
If you believe that each word spoken is like a prayer to the universe, you are very careful to choose each word with intention.
When I was a young girl, I used the word my to claim my world:
My mom and dad, my blanket, my doll, my room, my dog, my dinner, etc.
Adulthood expanded the word from people and things that made up my world, to things I wanted or expected to be with me for a longgg time, if not forever: my education, my career, my house, my husband, my children, my angels.
However, sometimes we fall into a trap – sticking something to us long-term that we don’t want hanging around to infinity and beyond. I have learned the hard way to be aware of the words I speak. You may want to, too.
Things you may not want to attach the word my to:
Debt
Bad Relationship
Disease
Cancer
Mortgage or other Payment Plan
Bully
Headache, Pain in the Neck, or other physical or metaphorical Pain
Taking ownership of such things binds them to you, and the more time you call them your own, the stronger the binding. You go from something akin to Velcro to something more like Super Glue, in which the unbinding can cause incredible damage, if not done with care and expertise.
So how does one unbind things that we have unwittingly connected to us?
Through the power of words:
I am working to repay this debt.
I am advocating for myself, stepping away, or working to repair the bad relationship with the person, business, or corporation who has been treating me unjustly or unkindly.
The “disease” does not define me but is something I am working to release/cure, manage, or learn to live with as I experience life to the fullest.
I am doing “such and such” treatment to calm the cancer cells that are angry.
Through principal payments, I am paying down the mortgage on MY home, or the debt for My education.
I’ve been spiraling in thought since that bully touched a nerve, but I’m choosing to take back my power and focus on what I can control, starting with my breath, what I notice around me, and then my thoughts and actions.
This headache/pain in the neck (other physical or metaphorical pain) is not my favorite feeling. I am doing what I can now to take care of myself to keep it from becoming debilitating.
By being aware of the words you speak to yourself and others, you empower yourself to experience the change.
Taking ownership of things that can harm you or exhaust you long-term is as bad as blaming others. There is always power within you. It’s up to you to harness it through your thoughts and words.
