Life Does NOT Suck

It’s Friday morning, 4/4/25, and I haven’t read the headlines yet, but I know that the tariffs are causing havoc, amongst many other things going on in regular, non-billionaire Americans' lives. It’s a constant heaviness of financial instability and grief on a global scale. This is not new news.

What the angels are reminding me this morning is that I have freedom and power…and so do you!

Life does NOT suck! We are being asked, more than ever before, to tap into the beauty that surrounds us. Our freedom and power lies within us to decide whether “stuff”  happening around us will “make us” have a good day or bad day, whether life is good or bad, whether something is “happening to us” or just “happening” and then whether we want to react or respond.

Each day, in every corner of the earth, there are AWESOME things going on. This morning the sun is shining through the clouds and trees are casting shadows on the lawn. The birds are singing their songs for everyone to hear. The tulips are poking their way up through the ground, announcing that Spring is coming. The temperatures, while not the balmy 70 degree days we were blessed with a couple weeks ago, are steadily rising. And the recent rain and snow is starting to turn the winter grass from beige to green.

Children still giggle - and it’s infectious. Our local library usually stocks some of those giggles amidst their books.

A walk through town reveals people holding hands and holding onto hope.

Dogs greet each other with barks, sniffs, and wagging tails.

Neighbors help one another - sharing treats, bringing in garbage bins, bringing over mis-delivered mail.

Whether it’s the majesty of a mountain, the glory of a sunset, the delicateness of dew on a flower, or the warmth of people seeing and helping one another -it’s all here, and it’s not going anywhere. We can choose to focus on these things and make this earth a better place. The news will always be there trying to bring us into doom and gloom, but we have freedom and power to delight in the life around us.
