Is it a Mistake, or a Life Lesson?
What is a mistake?
Mistakes have been described as the “best teachers”.
I’ve always been a decent speller, and when our teacher warned the class to make sure to study the spelling list, I chose not to even glance at it. As we corrected our tests, I was listening for her to say, “K-E-R-N-A-L", but she did not. Since that day, I have never misspelled “C-O-L-O-N-E-L" again. That mistake made an indelible mark in my brain.
Other mistakes have been more painful than not getting a perfect score on a spelling test.
Is a learning experience actually a mistake?
Ponder this:
If a mistake is the most efficient and effective way to learn something, is it actually a mistake?
(Side note: Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually channeling these messages, given that the examples are from my own life. I literally just stopped typing and crossed my arms because I didn’t like the message I was getting!)
I am currently in the middle of a very big personal lesson – of which I do not care to broadcast in a blog! Suffice it to say, I am wondering if I made a mistake. I am seeing a lot of red flags, and I asked the angels when I was making this decision if it was the right way to go! Did they mislead me? Did I misread them? Did something change- and now I’m paying for it...or was this specifically to teach me a lesson? Yuck! I do NOT like this! And it’s going to cost me time and effort to make it right!
The fact is – growth happens when we are uncomfortable.
Growth NEVER happens when we are comfortable! It doesn’t matter the situation.
You are, no doubt, thinking about something that’s got you feeling frustrated or irritated, or manipulated right now. That is step one. Step two is getting creative and finding a way to help your situation.
I don’t know about you, but there’s a part of me that would like to A) throw a tantrum. Or B)- I would like to ignore it and hope that it gets better on its own (which I am fully aware that it will not, and more likely will get worse with that plan).
However, I am aware that even if I choose option A or B above, eventually, I’m going to take the steps I must take to make my situation better. AND! I have learned exactly the steps I will take to ensure I don’t get myself in this conundrum again.
Did the angels fail me?
No! They got me moving in the direction of my dream, and I had been dragging my feet. It wasn’t the perfect situation, but it was better than nothing. Now I have valuable information regarding what I don’t want, and in the future, I will be much more discerning.
As an oldest child, I always wanted to be able to impart the wisdom I got from my most painful lessons so others wouldn’t have to go through the same pain.
What I have learned is that I can’t stop anyone from making the same mistakes I made – if that’s a lesson they’re meant to learn, God/Universe/Source, Angels, Guides, older sisters, and best friends will be there to support you, but none of them will stop the lesson from happening.
Ultimately, this is a good thing, especially if the lesson sticks with you decades after you originally learned it! And as Maya Angelou said, “When we know better, we do better.”
