The Throat Chakra
If you haven’t heard of chakras, or don’t know what they are, this probably seems like a really strange title and topic for a channeled angel blog. Bear with me. I promise they’re connected.
Chakras are spinning energy centers, of which there are many, but suffice it to say that there are seven main chakras: the root, the sacral, the solar plexus, the heart, the throat, the third-eye, and the crown. Each energy center is associated with a color, a sound frequency, bodily organs, emotions, and many other things. If they are balanced, you function well. When any of them, or all of them are out of balance, you can experience physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual dis-ease, which, if left unbalanced over time can lead to disease.
My work with reiki taught me about chakras and how to get them balanced for myself and others. And, fun fact, as it turns out daily tune-ups help immensely (which is why I encourage people to at least learn Reiki I so they can do daily self-reiki treatments). Another fun fact - continuing to get reiki treatments from other practitioners via reiki-shares or private appointments help peel back the layers of hurt and trauma that we store in our energetic body that we can’t necessarily get to ourselves (consider the dentist brushing their teeth vs. getting a professional teeth cleaning).
Our throat chakra is associated with the color light blue and the musical note “G”. It is our communication center (makes sense, right?) and when it’s balanced we communicate clearly. We listen as well as we speak. Our words come out clearly. We are not afraid to speak our truth. When it is unbalanced we may not have the time or inclination to listen to what others have to say, or perhaps we choose to keep silent when we want to speak up. Maybe our thoughts and words are not aligning.
However, something about the throat chakra that is a little less intuitive is its connection to the alignment of living our life according to our purpose. Strange, isn’t it?
Physically, we might have a lump in our throat, a sore throat, laryngitis, or a speech impediment. Emotional blocks might feel physical causing the inability to speak up when we feel threatened or sad or angry. If it’s overactive, perhaps we are yelling or using our voice or words in inappropriate ways. Mentally, there might be a problem getting words to match what we want to say - or we forget what we were going to say.
Archangels most associated with the throat chakra are Archangel Gabriel and Archangel Raguel. These angels, when called upon, can help you when you need to be a clear communicator. (Gabriel and I work together weekly on these blogs!) Gabriel (or Gabrielle) is known as a messenger and great communicator and helps us to speak up when we are feeling inhibited. We can also ask Gabriel to help us be honest, as honesty is an immediate way to clear out a muddied throat chakra. Raguel is like calling in the big guns for relationship needs. Raggy (yes, we are so close I gave him a nickname) helps me to find courage, and not shut-down or overreact when I have to have a conversation with someone who is intimidating for whatever reason. Maybe it’s not the person or people so much as the topic we need to broach.
So, ways to have a healthy and balanced throat chakra include being honest with yourself and others about who you are, what you prefer, and what boundaries you need, and then live accordingly. You can sing, hum, or chant to activate the energy around your throat chakra. Do neck and jaw stretches, yoga, and massage. Keep a journal (a gratitude journal is a great way to start…or restart the habit). Ask the angels for help when you’re feeling timid or scared. And, learn or receive reiki or a vibrational sound therapy session for specific blocks. Your throat, your life path, and your higher self will thank you!
