Do It Again
Cheryl Crow has released a new song called “Do It Again”, and I’m loving it! Clearly she’s on this spiritual path too. She sings of letting love in and that there is no us and there is no them. I must’ve listened to it a dozen times already. It’s kind of nice to have a new song running through my head. When conversing with the angels about what to write this week, the answer was to dissect this song as it has a lot of good reminders for all of us. I won’t write down all of the lyrics, I imagine that if you haven’t heard it already, you’ll be looking for the song from wherever you stream your music these days. Rest assured it’s worth your time!
Crow starts out her song, Do it Again, by mentioning she’s read Ekhart Tohlle and Deepak Chopra and realizing that pointing fingers always results in three pointing back at you. In other words, the wisdom of these spiritual teachers is that along the spiritual path, we have to start with the realization that whatever it is that is irritating us in someone else is the direct reflection of an unresolved issue within ourselves. We must do our own shadow work, face our most hidden demons (often realizing they are less scary than a Stephen King movie), work through them and cut those cords, or they will continue to haunt us in the faces of others.
She also sings about walking with Jesus and Buddha, and even taking a mushroom trip and sitting with the divine. The result of all of these is LOVE. There’s no room for judging one another, we are all welcome here, and we must have grace with ourselves because she is - and WE ALL ARE doing the best that we can. She learned to let go and let love in. It’s such a simple concept, but hard to do when someone or something triggers you, right? She addresses that too. She talks about being baptised in the river, washing her sins away, and getting a nice clean slate, knowing she’ll probably f*** it up again. Isn’t that how it goes? Whether through baptism or a reiki and cord-cutting session…we are still human, doing our best. We all want to BE better. We all work on being kinder, more compassionate, less chaotic and frazzled, and we start “fresh” with resolve to be our best selves. Then life happens.
The chorus of “Do it Again” is Everyday I get up and do it again. The important thing to remember here is that in spirituality, we call everything a practice. This means the more we practice, the better we get. Crow’s angelic message is not that we need to be perfect, but that we practice everyday getting into that place of oneness, where there is no division between us and other life around us. Take delight in whatever/whoever is around you. Notice the beauty of creation: a spectacular sunrise or sunset, a mangled tree growing tall, the conspiratory laughter of children playing, the kindness of a cashier handing out change. We are all just here doing the best that we can. Start each day thanking your angels for their guidance and help. They will give you signs and reminders to help you do a little better, and they will NEVER get tired of it. You can mess up multiple times a day and they won’t lose patience with you. They rejoice in your doing the best that you can, over, and over, and over again!
As always, Peace and Blessings to Each One of You! Thank you for reading my blog(s), for signing up for sessions and classes with me, and for recommending my work to those whom you love,
