What Is Spiritual Hygiene?

What is Spiritual Hygiene?

Spiritual Hygiene are things to do to keep your vessel (physical body) in a ready condition to connect spiritually. When spiritual hygiene is neglected, the connection is gunked-up and less clear.

There is a lot of overlap with physical health and hygiene steps, but for me, I am much more motivated to do the work for a spiritual outcome than a physical outcome. Old habits die hard, but by replacing them with rewarding outcomes, the process is easier.

When I am not feeling like my channel is clear, the following are areas I check:

  • Am I eating foods of the earth (fruits, vegetables, and nuts)?

  • Am I drinking enough clean water (and less caffeine and alcohol)?

  • What have I done to get out in nature- go for walks, put my feet on the earth or in the water, and hands in the dirt?

  • Have I done anything to stretch my body? – so much gets caught in the fascia: moving and stretching releases it.

  • It’s important to connect inward and find love. Have I done meditation or breathwork to ground in my physical body and love the darkest parts of me?

  • Am I reaching outward and finding oneness, through words (prayer) or deeds (community service)?

  • Am I practicing gratitude for beauty and blessings in my life?

  • Have my screens taken a front and center placement in my world? Am I remembering to put my phone and computer aside to experience the world around me?

  • Am I honoring my body’s need for rest and relaxation, getting the sleep and breaks I need?

  • Am I recognizing when I have picked up energy that is not my own and imagining a shower of light pouring over me: 1st blue light of Archangel Michael to cut cords and remove anything that’s not mine, 2nd green light from Archangel Raphael to deliver healing wherever it’s needed, 3rd pink light of Unconditional LOVE, and 4th white light of Divine Protection to help me as I move forward?

It’s so easy to get derailed in self-care. For me, it seems like I always have a reason or excuse why I can’t answer “yes” to every single one of these. And it’s ok! It’s also important to recognize that taking a moment to go through the checklist and get back on track will help me feel better. Taking care of our vessel means that we are in lock step with our soul’s path and purpose, and our channel becomes clearer.

The important thing is to give yourself grace…and when even that task seems insurmountable, remember to ask the angels for help!
